ABDO booksAccess to VLE digital library books that can be read on any electronic device or computer. Choose a book and the click Open ebook. Some of these books are audio books, but most are regular books with no audio track.
AR also known as Accelerated ReaderThis is the URL for the login screen to take an AR quiz. If you do not know your child's AR login, contact your child's teacher. AR quizzing will not begin later in September 2020. You will be notified when it is time for us to "kick off" accelerated reader.
If you read a book to your child, then you will need to read the questions/answers on the quiz. Do not tell them the answers. They are quizzing to test their comprehension, so they must answer on their own. If your child read the book on their own, they need to read and answer the quiz on their own.
There is a limit of no more than 3 AR quizzes per day. Your child may use books they have at home. Go to the arbookfinder link (www.arbookfind.com) and check to see if the books you have at home have an AR quiz. Write down the AR quiz number before you child logs in to take a quiz. Other sources for AR books, The Concordia Parish Library, ABDO book link or the VLE Library search for ebooks, both found in the Helpful Links on the VLE website.
AR BookfinderUse ARBookfinder to find out if the book you are reading has an AR quiz. Parents can also check on books they have at home to see if the book is considered an AR book.
Home Connect to check progress in Accelerated ReaderYou will need your child's AR login information to use Home Connect. Ask your child's teacher for the username and password. Home Connect allows you to set up email notification so that you will receive an email each time your child takes a quiz! There is even an option of the email to be sent in Spanish, if needed.
VLE Library SearchThe Vidalia Lower Elementary School Library is currently undergoing automation. The books found in this online catalog represent only a portion of our overall collection. All easy fiction, biographies, and non-fiction books from have been barcoded, and are viewable in the VLE online catalog. Click on VLE Library Search. Click on Vidalia Lower Elementary Library. On the search page, use the Material Type drop down arrow to eBooks, then on the TITLE button to search for books that your child can read online. Click open to view the book. Most of these books are regular books that have to be read by student or parent. Only a few are audiobooks. Susan Mingee, VLE Library Media Specialist
