Meet the Teacher

Hi! My name is Mrs. Geoghegan and I am a First Grade teacher! This will be 4th year teaching, and my 1st year at Vidalia Lower Elementary. I love teaching and watching little minds shape and mold into wonderful little readers, writers, mathematicians, etc. My favorite thing in the whole wide world is when the light bulb turns on because a kiddo gets it!

I graduated with my Bachelors Degree in Elementary Education with an emphasis in Reading and History from The University of Southern Mississippi. Go Eagles! I also obtained certification in Art Appreciation because I love all things creative! However, I am not done yet. I continue to take classes and learn new things. My new love in education is to bring as much technology as I can into the classroom! Bring on the apps & online resources!

I was born and raised in McComb, Ms and love everything about being a southern girl. My husband and I welcomed our only son, Jax, in October of 2013. He is also a student at Vidalia Lower Elementary, entering Pre-K 4 this year! Our little guy is full of energy and definitely keeps us on our toes. We also have a dog named Gabby who is 11 years old and loves following Jax wherever he goes.

In a nutshell, I have always loved kids, and teaching has been my dream since I was a child. I love sports, music, and anything artistic or creative. My goal is always to create a fun and safe learning environment for your children, and get them ready for the 2nd grade! Thank you in advance for making this a great year! After all, we are a team! I want to make sure that together we are always making the best decisions for your child. My classroom is always open! I will also keep the lines of communication open with frequent notes, e-mails and phone calls. Please don't ever hesitate to contact me for any reason!
