Bio

Hi,
I'm Susan Mingee, the librarian at Vidalia Lower Elementary. I have been an educator for 39 years! I've been both a teacher and a librarian.  Books and reading have been an important part of my life since my mother and older sister first started reading to me when I was a baby. The Cat in the Hat by Dr. Seuss is my all time favorite children's book. It was the first book I remember checking out from the school library that I was able to read all by myself.

I love books and technology and cats and learning new things, and I love all of my students.  Most of all, I love getting our VLE students excited about books and reading!   I encourage every child to go home and teach their family about what we learn together in the library. So get ready to learn, families!  Hopefully, your child will come home talking about their visit to the library each week. We are going to have a great school year together in the Vidalia Lower Library!!!

"Reading should not be presented to children as a chore or duty. It should be offered to them as a precious gift." — Kate DiCamillo

"The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more you learn, the more places you'll go." — Dr. Seuss

"When in doubt, the best gift for a child will always be a book and time spent reading it with someone they love and who loves them!"  Susan Mingee
