Karen Walker

Welcome to Mrs. Walker's Pre-K Class Website!!  I am so happy to be working with your children this school year.  During this year, my goals are for your children to grow socially, emotionally and academically.
 
I have been teaching Pre-K at VLE for 29 years.   I received National Board Certification in 2005 and recertification in 2015.  
 
I am married to Keith Walker and currently live on Lake St. John in Ferriday, LA.  I have 4 wonderful children, Chad Foster, Whitney Weeks,  Heather Weeks and Amanda Young.
 
  
                                                         
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 My teaching philosophy: My personal goal for my  classroom is to challenge students and watch them grow to their full potential. I want to take students at different levels and see them develop together for the betterment of each individual. Therefore, group work is the key to having a successful class and is something I value, especially with pre-k students. The impact of group work and hands-on activities  helps my  students, changes each person and transforms the atmosphere of the class as a whole. In my classroom, I want students to have freedom that allows for expression and creativity. Students should be able to experiment with likes and dislikes and to realize their strengths and weaknesses. After this base is developed, the curriculum can be molded to tie in each student’s learning style.
