for Vidalia Lower Elementary School

Every VLE student is a STAR, a student taking awesome responsibility for their school work, their behavior, the way they treat others and their attitude!

Responsibility

Our positive behavior plan is mandated by the state of Louisiana.  All of the expectations that have been set for our students are based on these four behaviors:
Be responsible

Be respectful
Be safe
Be ready to learn

Student behavior is managed using a behavior color code system.

VLES 2021-2022 Daily Behavior Color Code

Purple        Exceptional Behavior
Green         Ready to learn
Yellow        Verbal warning
Orange       Loss of recess
Red             Parent contact required

Any other infraction after parent contact has been made will result in an office referral. There is an official referral form that will need to be completed.

Each day the color resets to Green.

Rewarding Good Behavior
Each teacher has a behavior plan that is implemented in their classroom with rewards and consequences.

On a school wide level, special activities are planned at the end of each nine weeks.  Students who stay on purple or green for the nine weeks will receive an admission ticket to the special activity.  Those admission tickets include the student's name and will go into a drawing for special prizes.

Student of the Month
During the months of September, October, November, January, February, March and April, a Student of the Month will be chosen from each class.  The Student of the Month will have their photo placed on the Student of the Month display board in the main hallway.  In addition, the student of the month will receive a special bragtag to wear on their backpack, a certificate, recognition at the monthly PTP meeting, and their name in a drawing for a  big prize at the end of the school year.
